Over the last several weeks, our family has been on a journey of healing and recovery. Due to multiple traumatic situations we found ourselves in a crisis involving mental health and substance abuse. Our son was severely struggling, and there were many blockades to him receiving appropriate care, including the lack of proper diagnoses and treatment from the hospital staff. Thankfully, a second opinion from a different hospital advanced his placement at a temporary center to begin to address the need for stability, however, tackling the substance abuse issue is still an arduous task ahead of him. Geren is an amazing person with a contagious personality that has captured the hearts and attention of so many people throughout his life. We have been so touched to see the response from the community throughout these difficult circumstances and want to do everything we can to ensure that he is able to come home safe and ready to continue his adventure of becoming the loving, respectable leader and young man of integrity that he has always been and is meant to be! We believe that these events are going to be a catalyst for lasting change for the better and have been so grateful for the way Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has come alongside him to provide an atmosphere of genuine care and support for his mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being! We are excited for him to keep discovering what God has in store for him! We are indescribably appreciative of all the compassion shown by so many and every sacrifice that has been made to bring our goal down from $100,000.00, to $82,250!! It means so much to see the gifts of provision being consistently offered to supplement the expenses, which are broken down into 3 categories. 1) We have experienced employment hardships, 2) we will be required to travel to Arkansas (where Teen Challenge is located) to participate in 4 more separate mandatory parent meetings, and the program itself only has $56,700 left out of $84,000!! Our prayer is that he will be able to proceed in this refreshing environment to do the emotional work it takes to find wholeness and healing for his pain so that he can maintain a healthy mindset going forward.
