On Friday July 24th, our lives changed forever when Elaine was tragically killed in a senseless act of violence. A man who had allegedly stabbed his girlfriend then deliberately drove straight into Elaine while she was driving home from work at Launceston hospital, where she worked as a nurse for the past 20 years. She was completely innocent, simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Elaine spent 2 days fighting for her life in hospital but tragically Elaine’s injuries were too severe & family had to say their final goodbyes.
Elaine leaves behind her two beautiful boys, aged 6 and 10.
She also leaves behind her mum Sue & her brother Andy to which she shares a very special bond, her loving husband Rodney, her high school sweetheart, together since they were 15. They were truly meant for each other, they were best friends, they were Soulmates, their love was plain for anyone to see. Her boys were her whole world, and she was a devoted, caring mum who adored them beyond words.
What was supposed to be Elaine’s 40th birthday will now be her funeral, to say Elaine’s family & friends are devastated beyond words is an understatement.
Elaine dedicated her nursing career to caring for people at their most vulnerable, starting as a surgical nurse before moving into a role few would have the vision or determination to take on: improving patient flow.
Spending time as patient flow manager and then for the past year, as project nurse for rural facilities based flow improvements, she worked to make our health system move faster and safer for the patients who needed it most, the quiet, persistent effort to make sure no one falls through the cracks. She has left behind a legacy of genuine care and relentless advocacy, and our community is forever better for her commitment to people in need.
We have created this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden Elaine’s family is now facing. The funds raised will go towards funeral, as well as supporting Elaine’s family as they navigate this heartbreaking time, as Rodney will now be the sole income for their family, bills & mortgage still need to be paid while Rodney takes some time away from work to grieve with the boys.
If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, we are deeply grateful. If you cannot donate, we would be incredibly thankful if you could share this fundraiser with others.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us honour the life of our beautiful Elaine. We will carry her love with us forever.
