Let me introduce you to our 2022 moovember hero Èanna Ryan. Èanna is 8 years old and lives with his mam, dad and 3 brothers and little sister in Tipperary. On March 2nd 2021 èanna was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. This is a blood cancer that is extremely hard to cure. It is a very aggressive cancer. Èanna started chemo on March 3rd and after 4 rounds it was discovered that èanna’s leukaemia was growing and he was resisting the chemo. Crumlin hospital then decided to try a trial drug but this only seemed to accelerate the cancer cells. The family got the most heart breaking phone call in September 2021 when they were told that èanna would not be suitable for a bone marrow transplant as he had a gene mutation that was incurable. Èanna spent his 8th birthday in St. John’s ward receiving treatment. Unfortunately èanna never went into remission which was the hope. Èanna still has leukaemia in his bone marrow. Èanna is a happy strong determined little boy who has recently returned to school with all his friends and class mates. Èanna and his family will continue to fight to try and find a cure for him and so will we. Please help to rasie funds for this amazing little boy and ask everyone you know to please join in the fight.
