Hello, I am Alya Muhannad from Gaza. I am 29 years old. I got married in 2023 and got pregnant in my first months. I was five months pregnant. On the seventh of October, there was a genocidal war. I was displaced from the north of Gaza to the south, far from my mother and father. In the month of 1/2024, my daughter Arzaq was born under the severe siege in Khan Yunis, and I miraculously survived the direct bombardment.
The occupation arrested my husband and I moved to Rafah. My daughter was three days old. I was bleeding and suffering from postpartum depression. I threw my daughter on the ground. I also had chronic high blood pressure, I did not hear well in my ears, and in addition to epileptic seizures I needed constant treatment.
I weaned my daughter so that she would not be affected by my treatment. I suffer from starvation and the inability to get milk and Pampers for my daughter. I went through very difficult days. I was not able to buy winter clothes, and the cold was very bitter, and my little girl was suffering from a high temperature and the flu. I also add that my husband has since been tortured, burned his body, and extinguished cigarettes in his body.
In addition, my sisters live with me in displacement tents, and they are all suffering.
My sister Israa: She has six children. She had a heart attack that caused her to suffer from Parkinson’s paralysis. She is unable to support her children, and they suffer from famine and high prices. She suffers from extreme poverty and has no income.
My sister Huda: She became pregnant in the war after four years of infertility and gave birth to her first daughter, Iman. Her daughter was exposed to a bacterial infection in the blood and anemia. She lived for two months and there was no treatment for her. Because of my sister Hoda’s lack of nutrition during pregnancy and famine, unfortunately, her daughter died, and we are all deeply saddened by her loss.
My sister Eman: She has six children and suffers from a chronic nerve disease. She has been suffering from convulsions and seizures for 15 years. She needs treatment, and the price is very high. We lost her in the war because she had a seizure, and no one recognized her in the tents of the displaced in Mawasi in Khan Yunis. She suffers from extreme cold, famine, and extreme poverty. They have no breadwinner and no financial income.
My sister Aqdar: She has two children. She did not emigrate and remained in northern Gaza in her home. She was surrounded by the occupation forces. When she evacuated, she was directly hit by a Quadcopter plane, with three bullets in her back, stomach and foot. She was exposed to internal bleeding and miraculously survived. She suffers from difficulty walking and needs treatment and a pelvic operation due to the spinal cord being affected. Her health condition is extremely dangerous. We fear that we will lose her one day.
My mother, father, and the rest of my sisters and brothers, Muhammad and Mahmoud, remained in northern Gaza and suffered from famine, displacement from one place to another, and lack of security and safety.
We all live in tents and the bitter cold, but I know that thanks to your support we have become able to save our lives from death. Things here are more difficult than you see. Your donation is enough to save our lives from death. I hope you will not leave us alone.
Thank you all
