Nicole Carmichael often spends weeks, if not months, waiting for husband Carl to return from various spots on the globe. Carl, your classic hard working husband, performs contract construction work the world over. Carl travels to far away places like Afghanistan, spending time away from his beloved wife to earn money for a very expensive in-vitro procedure that would provide a chance for the Carmichael’s to have a child of their own. On September 9, 2016, Carl put his hard earned money toward the couple’s first shot at pregnancy. The implantation went well, Nicole beamed with excitement, and this hard working, god fearing couple waited. After navigating a sea of fertility trouble, the Carmichael’s received devastating news in early November during Nicole’s eight-week-sonogram. The Carmichael’s reproductive endocrinologist explained the health dangers of a cornual ectopic pregnancy to a devastated couple. Furthermore, the doctor explained the need to end the pregnancy and thus the life of their healthy eight-week-old fetus. The procedure would involve robotic surgery and removal of one of Nicole’s fallopian tubes. This brought a great deal of pain and anguish, both mental and physical, to a couple so-longing for a child.
Due to outstanding care provided by Dr. Susan Crockett, and advancements in robotic surgery, Carl and Nicole recently gained another chance at parenthood. Not every chance, though, amounts to success. Given the high cost of the in-vitro procedure and limited amount of successful fertilized eggs, couples can often spend tens-of-thousands of dollars with no success. Even successful couples may endure a few rounds of in-vitro before finally becoming pregnant and delivering. Carl and Nicole, to date, have spent over $30,000.00 on three embryos, one of which ended in the procedure described above, and two which did not implant (a not uncommon result with the procedure).
Restarting this process will require a large round of entirely new funding. As lifelong friends of this wonderful couple, we can assure you that your money will help two hard working, no-nonsense people who desperately want a child of their own. Please join us, and contribute what you can toward helping two completely deserving people become parents. We know Carl and Nicole well, they would not ask for this help alone. Carl will work as hard as possible to give them another chance; but we know friends and family can come together to speed up their time window, and ease the financial and mental burden on two loving people who have endured so much disappointment. Please donate now, and become a part of a wonderful story that ends with two of the best people I know, holding a child in a delivery room! Donate now!
