Please Join Kory's Journey to Overcome Cancer

As we start our story, I believe it’s best for you as the reader to know that Kory is like most men in the way that; if you’re with Kory you are safe, your needs will be met and you may never even speak what you need, it will be taken care of. That is what makes this story so difficult to tell. Kory is not the man to speak his needs. In the same way, he wouldn’t expect you to speak yours. We as a couple have not shared this with many. As we are now in need of changing some of the ways we think, we are moving forward to share our story in hopes we can enlighten others that may be burdened with a life event such as this. Kory in so many ways at this time is the best version of himself and as I do all that I can do to be his rock, Kory is somehow remaining his steadfast self, true to his nature and the only way I am able to stand most days is to solely lean on him as my rock. We invite you to be a part of our journey as we focus on our future. We ask only for your kindness and support. We are looking forward to putting out our Welcome Mat and asking you all to join us on our journey.

I first met Kory when he started working with my dad in April of 2020. It didn’t take us long to realize we had noticed each other. We soon became an official couple. As time was on our side in that moment, we would then become engaged. As we were living our lives, life soon got in the way as it is certain to do. Kory one day confessed to me that there was blood in his urine. Life was about to change. We were on our journey and quickly without notice. The next day we were on our way to the first of many appointments. After a series of conversations, appointments, and specialists, Kory was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. As we work with one of the doctors that have created this type of chemo, we are moving forward with the notion that Kory’s success rate is in the 90 percent of this type of chemo with this type of cancer. This does not mean we are in the clear. Kory’s last check-up showed the cancer has returned with a vengeance and had to be removed again. Five more tumors have been removed. As we move forward in our journey, Kory will receive weekly chemo treatments. Then there will be treatments with trial and error as a new normal for the rest of our lives. Kory is, as always, remaining solid and keeping us strong.
We are looking forward to a normal in all of this.

As we embark on this journey, we know this will be a very long process of healing and looking over our shoulder at each doctor appointment waiting for the next shadow to be cast.
With love from family and friends and the kindness of the ones that have been on this road before us, we are certain that we will remain blessed. Lifelong checkups will become our new normal and we will and are now so very grateful for all those that have not just financially invested but have invested in us and our story. We have been blessed with growing faith, more love, and more joy. Thank you all for your support, trust, love, and concern. Please know that your time is not wasted on our story. I am a teacher and have hope in the future for all. Kory is still working and will be as long as he can. Kory incidentally is an insulation technician doing repairs to First Responder Vehicles.
As hopeful as we are, we have a long way to go.
Thank you for keeping up with Kory and making sure Kory can stay steadfast and helping him keep his eye on the prize.
