Please help Volunteer Vietnam in Da Nang
Donation protected
Hello, we are Danielle (61 years old) and René (62 years old) from the Netherlands, married, 3 children, both still working and crazy about the Asian culture and people. Our motto is: 'Now that we are still healthy, we can still do all kinds of things, why should we wait for our pension?' That is why we are already doing volunteer work in Vietnam as often as possible.
My wife Danielle and I (René), volunteered at Volunteer Vietnam in Da Nang in march this year. We experienced with admiration how the enthusiastic staff members of Volunteer Vietnam involved us and other volunteers in the important work they do for underprivileged people in Da Nang.
Volunteer Vietnam is a charitable, non-profit organization that has been operating in Vietnam for over 20 years. Since their establishment in 2004, they have hosted more than 2,500 international volunteers from various countries around the world. Together, they have provided healthcare, social care, and educational services to approximately 500 individuals in difficult circumstances in Da Nang City, Vietnam.
Their operations are completely non-profit, and they rely solely on the financial contributions of volunteers and friends to continue their mission.
Volunteer Vietnam is currently facing a serious financial crisis. One of their major sponsors is no longer able to support them due to their own financial hardship, and the number of international volunteers — the other main source of income — has dropped significantly. As a result, Volunteer Vietnam is struggling to cover even the most basic operational costs.
Without immediate support, Volunteer Vietnam will be forced to reduce their staff and cut daily services for the people they care for. This would be devastating for the children and disabled residents who rely on the people of Volunteer Vietnam every single day.
Volunteer Vietnam is seeking about $3,000 per month to keep the programs running. The money is necessary for:
- Purchase of materials and equipment for their charitable activities;
- Support for centers and schools with electricity, water, and basic medical supplies;
- Salaries for 10 local Vietnamese staff members who support their organization;
- Operational costs of their volunteer house.
As former volunteers we want to raise money via Go Fund Me to ensure that the staff members of Volunteer Vietnam can continue their important work for at least another year and can supervise more volunteers. During that year, they can focus on new sponsors to contribute structurally to the costs.
We transfer the money that is deposited from the Netherlands to Volunteer Vietnam on a monthly basis. In addition, we join forces with other volunteers from Volunteer Vietnam by starting this campaign from multiple countries so that together we can reach the target amount sooner.
Our goal is to raise in total $36,000 for Volunteer Vietnam (12 months) so they can continue their good work for at least another year. Next year, Danielle and I are planning to return to Volunteer Vietnam to do volunteerwork for a longer period of time.
We know times are hard for many, but any amount of help — whether through a donation or sharing our campaign — would mean the world to us, and to those we serve.
Thank you for being part of their journey and for helping them get through this difficult time. Once again, we sincerely thank you. Your contribution is a great encouragement to us and plays a vital role in improving the lives of many disadvantaged individuals in Vietnam.
