My name is Paola, I am 21 years old, and I am writing to you with a heavy heart. As Maria's daughter, I find myself in a desperate situation that has led us to ask for your compassionate help. We recently welcomed my baby brother into the world here in Minnesota. Sadly, during what should be a time of joy and togetherness, we are instead facing uncertainty and fear.
My stepfather, José, was detained by ICE on January 13th while working to support us. Since then, we have been struggling with immense challenges, trying to cover legal fees and household bills. As the sole provider for the family right now, I find it increasingly difficult to manage all these responsibilities, especially with my mother taking the necessary time to recover after giving birth.
José's detention has been a tremendous blow, not only emotionally but also financially, to our family. Our need is urgent and growing every day, but together, with your help and generosity, we could alleviate some of this crushing burden.
