My name is Danni, and I’m a passionate teacher with a specialism in special needs education. Right now, my most important job is protecting my three beautiful children—aged 8, 11, and 13—from the devastating effects of abuse. We are trying to rebuild our lives after escaping years of violence, emotional torment, and sexual assault at the hands of my ex-husband. He is currently under police investigation for these crimes.

Despite a non-molestation order and his recent arrest for malicious communications, the trauma he caused still hangs heavily over us. His ongoing attempts to harass and spread vile rumours about me have shattered our sense of safety and made it nearly impossible for me to work. I’ve had to pause my teaching career to support my children through this horror, while my own health has suffered drastically under the strain.

We’ve now been served an eviction notice, and no refuge can accommodate my 13-year-old son. Council support has been slow, and emergency accommodation that fits our family simply isn’t available. To make matters worse, we have a beloved dog who is not just a pet—she’s an emotional anchor for us, helping us feel safe. We can’t bear to lose her too.

We’re rapidly running out of options, money, and hope. We’re struggling to pay essential bills and are close to being unable to afford food.
