PLEASE HELP U.S. NAVY VETERAN BUY A USED CAR!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Frank Sutton and I'm raising funds for a very good and deserving friend, Carl Cox!
Carl is a US Navy Veteran having served onboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), 1976 - 1980.
Carl recently completed working 15 years for the Veterans History Project helping future generations hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
Carl enjoys flying his radio control airplane with Silent Electric Flyers of San Diego (SEFSD), and he volunteers monthly as an SEFSD T-28 Pylon Racing judge and a very tasty hot dog chef! When he is not flying with SEFSD, Carl enjoys staying home flying on his computer virtually using the free-to-play Digital Combat Simulator.
Carl drove a 1989 Ford Victoria which his mother had given to him long ago, but a few months ago that car was falling apart and needed so many safety repairs it was not worth repairing to keep it road-worthy. Carl used all of his savings to buy a 2002 Saturn Vue. The Vue looked clean and ran very well for five months, then while driving down the freeway the timing chain broke and destroyed the engine beyond repair.
The photo is Carl proudly standing beside his (then, new to him) Saturn Vue at SEFSD Field. Unfortunately, Carl is now without his own transportation and cannot afford to buy another used car. Most importantly, he must attend monthly hospital appointments with the Veterans Administration. He is unable to drive himself to fly at SEFSD Field or participate in SEFSD events, or drive himself anywhere that he needs to go!
Carl is on a fixed retirement income and receives a small monthly Veterans Administration compensation. He would never ask for money himself, but the need is there! I ask you to please join our family and help Carl to buy another used, reliable car. Thank you for your assistance!
V/R,
Frank Sutton
