Hello fellow community members! My name is Jess Sutton and as many know, we have been actively fighting the lack of transparency as well as the failing of our city to follow both their own codes and state laws in the city of Warrenton. They have chosen to support corporations, such as those putting in data centers in rural communities, at the expense of the taxpayer. Myself and fellow county residents that will be affected the most have joined together to take action against this. Several of us have shown up at every meeting, asking for answers and questioning the process that has taken place.
We are ready to take a significant step in our fight and we need the community's help in reducing the financial burden on the landowners spearheading these efforts. We are being charged outrageous sunshine request fees of $83.40 an hour for the City Administrator, the highest-paid employee. We have reached the point that legal counsel is now officially the next step to holding our leaders accountable. We are not just fighting for us; we are fighting for change for the entire community. Stopping the data center would be an ideal outcome. Either way, our city government works for the taxpayers, not for corporations, not just for their "friends," but for all the residents that pay taxes. We have already obtained legal counsel and ask for your help in supporting our efforts to change the city to operate for the residents instead of data center developers.
