Dear family & friends, it’s Bernie & family. ♡♡♡♡

We’re 3 weeks into our 2-month road trip when something we never imagined happened just a couple of hours ago – our beloved trailer “Bluey” completely snapped away from our car while driving down a bumpy country road towards Brisbane. Bluey flipped over, and while the sight was terrifying, the most important thing is that we’re all safe – not a single scratch, and for that we are beyond grateful!

Unfortunately, Bluey wasn’t so lucky. The A-frame broke away, both wheels came out, and the underside is badly damaged.

Some kind strangers helped us flip Bluey upright, unload the chaos inside, and get us to the nearest shelter. But right now we’re stuck with no way to keep travelling. Roadside assistance couldn’t help us either, so we’re sheltering for a couple of nights until we can find a local steel shop on Monday morning to see if Bluey can be welded back together.

We still have weeks of our trip ahead – and we hadn’t even made it to the fun part yet, which includes celebrating my 50th birthday next week with a trip to Dreamworld (already paid for), as well as visiting family and friends.

Bluey is our little home on wheels. Repairs and parts will be costly, and with this sudden setback we’re reaching out for help. Until Monday we won’t know if Bluey can be repaired, and from there we’ll need to figure out whether we can continue our journey or somehow make our way back home.
