Please help us build a wheelchair accessible home!

Hi, my name is Rebecca and I’m asking you to help me build a wheelchair accessible house for my son Jake and I to live in, in Perth Western Australia.

I am the sole carer of my 29 year old intellectually and physically disabled son, Jake who is wheelchair bound due to his Cervical Spina Bifida and Cerebral Palsy.
He also has uncontrolled Epilepsy, Hydrocephalus and is Globally Delayed which is another set of challenges he has to deal with daily.

We have struggled in our current house now for 22 years, with not enough room for his growing in size, larger wheelchairs and other essential equipment.
We have had a review done by the NDIS and nothing about our current house is suitable for his needs or what little independence he has. He also has no where to explore his hobbies, enjoy life or have his friends and family over to visit.
To renovate our current home will cost more than a new one, plus we are restricted with regards available space.

So we’ve made the decision to build a fully accessible house for him and I (as his carer) to live in. The main problem is land prices are going up everyday and we need to ask for a bit of help to make this dream come true for us both.

We are not extravagant people and both of us are on fixed incomes (Disability and Carers pensions) so this is quite a large endeavour for us to embark on and any help you can give us will be very much appreciated!
