Please help the Stockman family

Hi Everyone,

I’m writing this on behalf of the Stockman family who are doing it tough right now. For those of you that don’t know in August 2021, Jordan their third eldest son, was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma, a few days after his 25th birthday.

The cancer had become metastatic (meaning it had spread) from his knee, to his spine, lungs, groin, bowel and skull. He immediately began an aggressive program of chemo and radiation which is ongoing for 12 months.

As you can imagine this news was heartbreaking for his family and friends, as Jordan’s cancer was in his back and knee, walking became impossible but so was lying down. He was in incredible pain everyday on top of dealing with all the side effects of chemo and radiation.

However, things continued to get worse for the Stockman Whanau. Five weeks into Jordan’s treatment, his mum (Ahuaiti) who had taken time off work to care for him, became very sick herself and ended up in hospital where she too, was diagnosed with a fairly advanced stage of pancreatic cancer which is incredibly dangerous. So she also had to begin an immediate and aggressive radiation program which has since progressed to chemotherapy.

They have been on this journey together for almost 6 months and the family is now dealing with not only the emotional, mental and physical strain this would put on any family with one family member battling cancer (let alone two), but the financial strain which is leading to even more emotional and mental struggles.

The father Darrin, and their two eldest sons Corey and Jovan are doing all they can to help keep the family going financially whilst taking turns caring for Ahuaiti and Jordan and taking them for their treatments and checkups 4-5 days a week which can often go for 9-10 hours at a time all while trying to help support the youngest children, Kye-Jana and Kaelis to deal with this and support them getting through high school.

Although he doesn’t speak about it, I can only imagine the toll this is all taking on Jordan’s father and Ahuaiti’s husband Darrin who would be so worried about his wife and son but having to spend so much of his time at work to keep a roof over their head while juggling school drop offs, pick ups, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, caring for the house, yard and dog all while just wanting to spend what could be some last precious moments with his loved ones.

We all know someone who has had to battle this horrible disease. We all know how quickly these things can take a turn. Every day is a struggle for Ahuaiti and Jordan, they are always in pain and incredibly nauseas. Simple tasks such as showering, eating and getting dressed are a struggle. They are constantly in and out of hospital, not only for treatments and appointments but for fevers and other illnesses that have come as a result of the chemo. And while all this is happening life goes on and the bills keep coming, their medication is expensive and with rising petrol prices the constant trips to the hospital which is 30-50 mins away depending on traffic is really taking a toll.

We know the last few years have been incredibly hard for everyone but if you can spare anything at all to help take some pressure off the family I know they will would be forever grateful.

As I am writing this on behalf of the Stockman Whanau I want to point out all proceeds will be going to the family, specifically Ahuaiti’s account. Thank you so much to anyone and everyone who can help in anyway.
