Dearest Friends,
I'm reaching out to you with a request close to our hearts. My children and I have been assisting a family of seven from Venezuela, and I wanted to share their journey with you.
They traveled for 43 days, crossing seven countries to reach the U.S. Just three nights ago, they arrived, having faced unimaginable challenges along the way. They came with only the clothes they were given at the border, and their experiences have left a deep impact on all of us.
Their journey included riding a moving train where they feared tremendously for the safety of their children. They were robbed and found themselves stranded, surrounded by posters of missing individuals. They shared with us stories of walking along dangerous cliffs, with the youngest child narrowly escaping a fall, he was saved by his older brother.
Amidst their struggles, their gratitude and sweetness shine as beacons of hope. The children, aged 15, 13, 11, and 9, radiate politeness and love and have shown remarkable resilience. They are strong in their Christian faith, and their dreams align with the simplest of desires: a roof over their heads, nourishment, and the chance for their children to thrive.
They now have asylum papers and are registered with Immigration. Currently, they are staying in my daughter's back house here in San Antonio, and we're in the process of getting them settled into schools which start next week. However, they are in need of basic essentials that many of us often take for granted.
Clothes, permanent housing, and everyday necessities are their immediate requirements. The children are particularly in need of school attire and a permanent roof over there heads. Additionally, funds for food are essential as they begin this new chapter.
If you find it in your heart to contribute, no matter how small, it would make a significant difference in their lives. Every donation will go directly to this family, as my children and I are personally overseeing their support.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. Your assistance means the world to us and to this resilient family. With heartfelt thanks,
The Dupre Family
