Hi my name is Heather and I am friends with the LaMarche family.
On July 3rd, Micci was involved in a terrible car accident. This is Micci's story:
On Thursday, July 3, 2025, I dropped Frankie off at summer camp as always. I started on my drive to work, same route I take 95% of the time.
About half way through my drive around 7:30 am, I noticed the vehicle in the oncoming lane cross over and begin coming head on at me. I attempted to hit my brakes and drive into the field to avoid any collision but it was too late, I hadn’t even hit the bit of gravel on the side of the road when the truck slammed right into me.
I didn’t hit my head ever nor lose consciousness, however I was pinned. At 33 weeks pregnant all I could do was scream for help. I will say, I am so incredibly thankful for the passerby’s who stopped to stay with me until help arrived, I am even more grateful that the power of super sleuths and social media has connected me to those people.
As my driver side door was being sawed off, I feared the worst for my unborn baby. I was taken to trauma resuscitation at Froedtert, my baby had a heart beat. A short amount of time passed and a few tests/scans were done, but it was still not fast enough to realize my baby needed to come out immediately. It was too late, even if they had done an emergency cesarean section to get him out, the damage was done and I was told my baby would not be born alive. It would be safest for me to deliver him naturally rather than cesarean.
After the blow of that news, I was told my hip was broken and completely dislocated and my pelvis would need extensive surgery to be repaired. I was told I won’t be able to walk for at least 4-12 weeks after surgery. My elbow/arm is also broken. I have multiple fractures in three of my lumbar vertebrae (that are inoperable).
I was taken directly to the labor and delivery unit. An epidural was placed and an ortho team did a procedure in my room to put my hip back in place and splint my arm. I have a pin that was put through my tibia and weights placed to create traction so that my hip does not dislocate again. I have been in the same position since Thursday and will be until surgery. Labor was then induced. At 6:40 pm, I delivered our incredibly adorable, sleeping boy, Crew William LaMarche.
Our son will never cry, he will never open his eyes. Our daughter will never get to help feed her baby brother Crew as she talked so much about doing.
I am beyond grateful to be alive today. I will be working so hard to walk again and get back to life, because right now, things are just a nightmare.
Micci is not one to ask for help but she is the first to offer anyone help. So I'm asking people to donate to help with some of the financial burden as they move forward to heal physically and mentally. Micci is going to be out of work for an unknown amount of time, medical bills and funeral costs for Crew are just the start of what they will need help with.
