Thomas’ Medical Update – December 6, 2025

My name is Ganlo (Choi), and I am reaching out to share an update about my younger brother, Thomas (范子钊 Fan Tsz Chiu).

For several years, Thomas has been battling serious health challenges. After extensive medical evaluations, doctors have confirmed that he cannot undergo the less invasive balloon-and-stent procedure (percutaneous coronary intervention). Instead, he will require an open-heart surgery as soon as a place becomes available in the hospital, which will involve:

Aortic valve repair or replacement – to restore proper heart function, and

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) – to create a “bridge” using a grafted or synthetic blood vessel to bypass blocked arteries.

Because of his declining health, Thomas has been unable to work for years. He has no medical insurance and receives only a minimal government allowance. As many of you in Hong Kong know, such procedures are not covered by public hospitals, meaning Thomas must pay the full amount out of pocket.

On Thomas’s behalf, I have created this GoFundMe campaign to humbly ask for your support. Your generosity will help Thomas access the urgent care he needs. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference.
