<div>My name is Ganlo (Choi), and I am reaching out to share an update about my younger brother, Thomas (范子钊 Fan Tsz Chiu).

<div>For several years, Thomas has been battling serious health challenges. After extensive medical evaluations, doctors have confirmed that he cannot undergo the less invasive balloon-and-stent procedure (percutaneous coronary intervention).  Instead, he will require an open-heart surgery as soon as a place becomes available in the hospital, which will involve:

<div>Aortic valve repair or replacement – to restore proper heart function, and
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) – to create a “bridge” using a grafted or synthetic blood vessel to bypass blocked arteries.

<div>Because of his declining health, Thomas has been unable to work for years. He has no medical insurance and receives only a minimal government allowance.   As many of you in Hong Kong know, such procedures are not covered by public hospitals, meaning Thomas must pay the full amount out of pocket.
