Please help support my Dads recovery

Hello everyone. This is Jessica Veiga and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my father Antonio Veiga (aka Ezekiel). As most of you know, my dad is an international tour guide and he’s been working in tourism for the last 15 years. On this last trip, he was spending a month in Japan and South Korea. At the end of the 30 day trip, him and 25 passengers and another tour guide that accompanied him on the trip, were flying back from Japan to Dubai and then they would spend the night in Dubai and fly the next day to Rio de Janeiro. On the flight my father suffered a stroke. Thankfully, the plane was landing in Dubai and they were able to give him an aspirin on the plane and get him to a hospital as quick as they could. He is now recuperating in a hospital in Dubai, my brother Tigo that lives in Portugal traveled right away, and was able to get there that same night at 2am. My dad was alone in the hospital that night and I reached out to Natalie Weiss, who lives in Dubai and works for Emirates. She immediately dropped everything she was doing and went to stay with my dad in the hospital and sat with him for 5 to 6 hours, she is an angel and my whole family are very very thankful for her for keeping him company till my brother arrived from Portugal.

Here is an update on his condition: When he arrived in the hospital he couldn’t move his body or talk. It’s been 5 days already and he has recuperated very quickly. He is able to move his body. His memory is intact and he is able to speak although with some difficulty. He will start physical therapy and will start on semi solid food. Doctors said he will remain in the hospital for 2 weeks at least while they monitor his progress.

Thankfully, the travel insurance is covering the hospital bills or at least some of them from what we know.

This fundraiser is to help my parents with his recovery when he arrives in Rio. My dad was the only source of income and supported the house and bills on his own and due to the stroke, he will have to stop traveling internationally and focus on his health and recuperating fully.

Oi pessoal,

Estou criando essa vaquinha para ajudar meu pai Antônio (também conhecido como Ezequiel). Como muitos de vocês sabem, meu pai trabalha como guia turístico internacional há uns 15 anos. Durante sua última viagem, ele ficou por 1 mês entre Japão e Korea do Sul. Ao final dos 30 dias, ele e mais 25 passageiros e outro guia que estava trabalhando com ele, estavam retornando do Japão a Dubai, onde passariam a noite antes de embarcar de volta ao Rio de Janeiro, quando meu pai sofreu um AVC. Felizmente, o avião estava pousando e a equipe de comissários de bordo foi muito eficiente em atende-lo com os procedimentos médicos, aspirina, etc. e o levaramcom urgência à emergência do hospital mais próximo. Ele foi atendido e medicado e está neste momento internado recebendo tratamento médico em um hospital em Dubai. Meu irmão Tiago, que mora em Lisboa, pegou o próximo voo para Dubai assim que soube e conseguiu chegar as 2 da manhã do dia seguinte. Naquela noite meu pai estava sozinho no hospital. Foi quando consegui entrar em contato com a Natalie Weiss que mora em Dubai e trabalha para a Emirates. Ela largou tudo que estava fazendo e correu para o hospital para ficar com meu pai por 5 a 6 horas até o meu irmão chegar! Ela foi um anjo e eu e minha família estamos eternamente gratos a ela por esse ato de amor e por fazer companhia a meu pai até meu irmão chegar de Portugal.

A situação dele nesse momento: Ele está se recuperando muito rápido. No início quando ele chegou no hospital ele estava completamente paralisado, não mexia o corpo e não conseguia falar. Agora já consegue mover todo o corpo, ainda fala com dificuldade, mas aos poucos está recuperando a fala e voltou a engolir e aos poucos estão introduzindo alimentos e começarão a fazer fisioterapia. Sua memória está intacta, graças a Deus.

Felizmente o seguro viagem foi acionado, assim que os custos hospitalares e médicos estão cobertos, se não totalmente, em parte.

Essa vaquinha é para ajudar minha família com a recuperação do meu pai quando ele retornar ao Rio, Brasil. Meu pai é quem sustenta a família e todas as despesas da casa. Devido ao AVC ele não poderá viajar (não sabemos por quanto tempo) e não tem como trabalhar para cobrir os gastos mínimos da casa. Até se recuperar completamente.

Por essa razão estou pedindo sua ajuda. Ficaremos imensamente gratos por qualquer ajuda que você puder doar nesse momento difícil. Muito obrigada!
