Help Support Meggan's Recovery

Hi. I’m Bev. My wife Meggan and I have shared our lives for over 13 years. Many adventures, experiences, shared laughs and day to day living in that time. She is an amazing woman, genuinely caring of others, an exceptional nurse, a wonderful friend, loving daughter and the absolute love of my life.

On April 6th, 2024, our lives suddenly changed. My dear wife fell rapidly ill with septic shock. She was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and promptly admitted into the ICU, placed on a breathing tube and dialysis, hooked to more IV medications than I can now recall, and special cords from her head to check for seizures. The first few days were a series of many tests, conversations with an expanding team of doctors and specialists, worrying results and vitals, so many unknowns. I sat holding her hand and watching her face and many monitors, a mantra on repeat in my mind: please be OK. Please be OK. Please be OK.

Was she scared? Did she hurt? She could not tell me. I hoped she knew nothing of what was happening. I hoped even more that the beautiful woman and spirit remained. Oh please, Meggan, I miss you more than I can say. You have so much living yet to do.

Her dear mother Phyllis promptly arrived to give Meggan the power of her mother’s love. Friends and family arrived from near and far to shower her with the healing love she needed. Worried calls and texts filled my phone. I tried to keep up as best I could. Things changed and news would be good one moment, then a new string of worries and tests the next. Favorite music played softly in her room. A collection of cards, pictures and gifts gathered in her room. Her fellow nurses kept me in sustenance and caffeination.

Then, a bit after 3 pm on April 13, Meggan opened her eyes in a way that showed that she was in there, her spirit and vitality and mind intact. She could nod and shake her head to questions. Communication! Her beautiful expressive eyes said legions. She was fighting and fighting hard!

She is strong, she loves life and she will prevail! We do not know what the wider future holds but we do know that these coming weeks and months will be spent focusing on the road to wholeness.

We humbly ask for monetary donations to help us cover expenses as I remain by her side during this time. Each of us together can achieve so much when we take action collectively.

Most sincerely,
Bev (Meggan’s wife)
