I am Amy Barton, Austin Mooney’s mother-in-law. Austin Mooney was born with a congenital heart defect that eventually led to Pulmonary Hypertension, requiring a double lung and heart transplant in June 2020. After a long six-month hospital recovery, Austin came home and began rebuilding his life. During that time, he and his wife, Larisa, bought a house, welcomed two beautiful children into the world, adopted a dog, and started jobs they both love.
In October 2024, Austin was diagnosed with chronic organ rejection, which progressed to CLAD (Chronic Lung Allograft Dysfunction). Despite many treatments for the rejection and countless prayers, the doctors determined this past summer that the only option left was to do another lung transplant. Unfortunately, through the transplant listing process, it was determined that Austin’s 30 year old body is now too weak to endure another transplant, and he has entered hospice care with only a few weeks left to live.
We want to bless Larisa and Austin financially during this heartbreaking time. There will be medical, hospice, and funeral expenses, as well as ongoing costs like their mortgage and household bills. Larisa is now preparing for life as a single mother to a 3-year-old and an infant, all while managing unimaginable emotional and financial burdens.
Our goal is to ease some of that financial stress so Larisa can focus on spending precious time with Austin and caring for their family. If you would rather donate through Venmo, you can send it directly to Larisa Mooney (@mooneylarisa). More than anything, the Mooneys need your prayers for peace, comfort, and strength as they walk through this difficult time.
Thank you all for your love, generosity, and support. God bless you all.
