Please help save Parkwood Community Project (Golcar)

Hello my name is Cheryl Hey. Some of you may know me from Parkwood Community Group in Golcar at the Drop By and I am also the Director of Youth Matters Kirklees CIC.

This is a plea to our local communities to see if the power of people can help save the closure of Parkwood Community Group.

Unfortunately funding has been rejected lately and we only have funds to keep us open till the end of March.

This means we close our doors to hundreds of people who access our services each week. From lunch and breakfast clubs to walking and seated exercise clubs. Not forgetting all the support that we provide for families, retired, home ed young people, children, isolated and those who just wanna pop in for a cuppa.

This past year we have turned the Drop By into a thriving safe haven for so many. Providing volunteer opportunities, pumping love and new energy into the community that really needed it.

We know if this was to close it would have such a devastating impact on our community. We are onto a good thing here and our service users will tell you how special the project is.

We are really hoping that by the power of community we can raise some well needed funds to bide us more time for some other application bids we are waiting to hear back from.
