Imagination Island Eco Resort is a small family-owned business that, in addition to providing accommodation for both local and international visitors in the Solomon Islands, contributes significantly to the livelihoods of local communities through employment opportunities, organized excursions, and cultural exchange experiences for guests. The resort also serves as a sanctuary for Black Tip Reef Sharks, Giant Clams, and other marine species vulnerable to fishing exploitation. As a designated Marine Protected Area (MPA), Imagination Island Eco Resort is fully committed to safeguarding the marine ecosystem and natural environment, including thousands of Noddy birds (Anous minutus) and various other bird species that inhabit the island. Unfortunately, the resort sustained severe damage from the recent Cyclone Maila, resulting in its temporary closure. This has not only impacted the resort’s operations but also disrupted its support for local communities and the ongoing protection of its natural biodiversity and the MPA. In light of these challenges, the resort is seeking financial assistance to fund restoration efforts and facilitate reopening.
