THIS FAMILY NEEDS US!
Nicole is a 45yr old single mother of four with one granddaughter. Her oldest is, 25 and he’s out of the home, taking care of his daughter. 14 year old daughter, Charlee, attends San Domenico School as a 9th grade boarding student. 11 year old son, Charles Lee, is a 6th grader at Bayside/MLK Junior High School. And 9 year old daughter, Monya, is a 3rd grader, also at Bayside/MLK. All three kids are kind, polite, and well behaved individuals. They do very well in school, and they love to dance, sing, play musical instruments, and play sports.
This sweet family lives in Marin City's Golden Gate Village (run by the Housing Authority of the County of Marin). Due to a family emergency they had to vacate their unit for about three months. When they returned, they found their home infested with rat feces and urine. It was on their clothes, the beds, furniture, floors... Pretty much every single one of their earthly possessions needed to be thrown out. Nicole and kids, along with some of the kids' friends, have emptied the place out completely (not a small feat!). Meanwhile, Nicole and the kids have been sleeping on Nicole's sister's floor and couches, and now they are trying to figure out how to move into their home.
THIS IS WHERE WE CAN HELP! If we all give a little, we can help them get back to living in a healthy environment. Bernadette and Nathalie have already hired cleaners to deep clean every surface, and painters to paint everything. Now we need to work on getting some fresh carpet in the bedrooms, buy beds, furniture clothing, and some fresh food to get them started.
Things have not been easy for this single mom of four. Many doors have slammed shut. Together, as a community, we can open new doors for her and her precious family. Let's make sure this hardworking mom knows she is not in this alone, and that she feels the love from our community at large!
