Update:
***My parents are continuing to heal both physically and emotionally and are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love and support surrounding them, near and far. They want to sincerely thank everyone who has prayed, given, shared, and reached out.
We are thankful to share that one of their cats, Frodo, survived and is doing well and is happy to be back with his people. Their chickens were also found safe, which has been such a comfort in the midst of loss.
They are currently surveying their property and prayerfully trying to discern what comes next. At this time, they are also navigating challenges with their insurance company, and there is uncertainty about whether the fire will be covered.
For now, they are staying in my mom’s sister’s basement and are exploring options for longer-term housing. The American Red Cross is also involved, providing support during this transition.
Right now, they are asking for prayer that God would gently guide their steps forward and give them clarity, strength, and peace. With so much still unknown, every donation helps provide hope and a sense of future security as they take their next steps.***
Our hearts are shattered as we share that my parents experienced a devastating fire that destroyed the barn/apartment they were living in while building their home. In a matter of moments, everything changed.
The official cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it may have been triggered by a heat lamp or an electrical circuit malfunction. What we do know is how fast and terrifying it was. The smoke overtook them within seconds. My mom knew that if they didn’t get out immediately, they wouldn’t make it out at all.
In the chaos, my dad broke windows with his bare hands trying to rescue their animals. He now has significant burns, a deep cut on his hand, and multiple cuts on his arms. He is being taken to a burn clinic for specialized care. My mom also suffered burns, including burns to her head.
They lost all of their beloved animals in the fire — 7 dogs, 7 newborn puppies, 3 cats, as well as some of their chickens. These animals were not just pets; they were part of their family, their daily joy, and their purpose.
This loss is beyond words — emotionally, physically, and financially. They are facing medical bills, loss of their home, loss of their animals, and the long road of healing ahead.
If you feel led to give financially, every dollar will go directly toward medical care, temporary housing, and rebuilding what was lost. If you are unable to give, we ask with humble hearts that you would pray for them. Prayer means more to our family than words can express.
A prayer we’re holding onto:
Jesus, wrap Your arms around their hearts right now.
Hold them in the middle of this shock and grief.
Bring comfort where words can’t reach, peace where emotions feel unbearable,
and remind them they are not alone — ever.
We trust You even when we don’t understand. Amen.
Even sharing this page means more than you know. Thank you for loving my parents through this unimaginable time.
