This year I have been helping sponsor Ms. Huyck's bilingual ECSE (early childhood special ed) class at P.E.A.C.E. Academy in Pontiac, MI. Her twenty students, ages 3-5, are amazing! Now their families are facing a sudden obstacle with the abrupt suspension of SNAP food benefits.

We surveyed parents, and most are very concerned about making ends meet. Pontiac is a diverse community where working parents typically qualify for food assistance, and P.E.A.C.E. is a public Title I school. Offering groceries to these families while SNAP is suspended could make a wonderful difference.

With your generous donation, I will partner with a local food bank to assemble boxes of family groceries. Twenty families per week is a big task, but awesome friends are helping.

We have no idea how long this suspension will continue. IF funding restarts, and IF we have donation money left over, we will report on that and share the money with Pontiac Lighthouse.
