I WANT TO LIVE. I have ESRD and Cancer. I need a Kidney.

EMERGENCY UPDATE on May 15, 2025.

I am putting my pride and privacy aside in order to ask for life-saving assistance. Please Help, If You Can. Thanks.

⭐⭐ I Have A Major On-Going Medical Crisis. ESRD (End-Stage Renal Disease) + Thrice-Weekly Dialysis + AML Acute Myeloid Leukemia aka Blood Cancer + IV Chemo + Oral "Maintenance" Chemo + Follow-Up Blood Testing and Exploratory Scan Procedures, with associated compounded circumstances, complications and challenges.

⭐ Much thanks for the doctors, nurses and medical teams at MSK and NYP. Kudos for recent concerned Broadway, Family/Friends, Industry Creatives, Musicians, Notables and other Supporters for my ongoing "I WANT TO LIVE" GoFundMe life-saving journey-effort as I am fighting hard to live. Please help with any amount, if you can. Please Donate and Spread The Word. Thanks.⭐

The "FINAL" round of my lifeline, life-saving, "outpatient" oral "maintenance" chemo [tablets] treatment is weeks from nearing-the-end-of-cycle-completion; however, my health insurance providers will no longer fully cover the cost, due in part to their "excessive, extended care/treatments" claim. I have to immediately"self-pay" for the oral "maintenance" chemo tablets by May 19, 2025. Regardless of setbacks or complications, I am still fighting hard to keep living against any and all odds. Yes, I also continue to fight to further live, even as I deal with on-going primary and secondary health insurance appeals, bureaucracy, challenges, denials, limitations, mess and stress. I need your immediate help. Please Help, If You Can. Thanks.

For almost twenty-four years since the demise of 9-11, I have endured renal disease, kidney failure, dialysis, cancer, chemo, congestive heart failure ("CHF"), arrhythmia, pneumonia, vertigo, anemia, stress conditions, and other challenges and complications. Again, Please Help, If You Can.

Thanks for the calls/messages. In a few weeks, I will be looking forward to the completion of all chemo treatments and the hopeful-end of my three-year cancer battle; however, I need immediate help.

Per my doctors, I will now have to refill the prescription and must self-pay by May 19, 2025. I need help to meet the balance. Please Help, If You Can. Take care. Stay well. Thanks.

"I STILL WANT TO LIVE" ... PLEASE HELP, IF YOU CAN.

[Drs have told me that the next ten (10) days will be intense, especially as I will need to start taking last final round of lifeline, lifesaving, "outpatient" oral "maintenance" chemo, and as my body will be on autopilot, so to speak, more so than ever in the care of God. Do or Die. Wow. Pray for me. Blessings and support are always welcome and needed.]

[Drs say with oral chemo still "fizzing in" and "fading out" of my body, that is causing my body/organs to be in survival mode without going into shock. After vomiting/diarrhea, I am then hungry again. I then need to eat again and again. Drs say that the "crapping" is the temporary new normal until chemo is purged/flushed. It is all part of the journey to live again. I am too embarrassed and ashamed that I am sick, and that I have to ask for help and money to eat, live and survive. It costs to be sick. Please help, if and however you can. I look forward to being well again. Take care. Stay well. Thanks.]

I am nearing-completion of all chemotherapy and the hopeful end of my three-year cancer battle.

[Doctors are also screening, retesting, sticking, picking, probing and hoping to rule out AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).]

[GOOD NEWS — NOT SO GOOD NEWS ... I am "nearing-the-end-of-all-chemo-and-cancer" and I need one FINAL round of lifeline, life-saving, "outpatient" oral "maintenance" chemo tablets. Unfortunately, my health insurance will no longer fully cover the cost due in part to their "excessive, extended care/treatments" claim. Per my doctors, I will now have to refill the prescription and must self-pay by May 19, 2025. I need help to meet the balance. As well, even after the completion of all of my chemo treatments — my already concurrent, in-progress thrice-weekly dialysis will continue until I get a healthy, viable kidney transplant. Please Help, If You Can, via my GoFundMe page. Thanks.]

⭐ "I WANT TO LIVE" — PLEASE HELP, IF YOU CAN. With the near-ending of my three-year cancer battle and with my on-going health conditions/challenges, I am putting aside my pride and privacy to ask for help. I am still fighting hard. I recently completed IV Chemo treatments on February 19. I now need one (1) final round of Oral "Maintenance" Chemo that I need to resume taking weekly on May 5. PLEASE HELP, IF YOU CAN, WITH MY ON-GOING HEALTH JOURNEY — THE NEAR-ENDING OF ALL CHEMO TREATMENTS — MY RECOVERY AND SURVIVAL GOALS. [FYI, the oral "maintenance" chemo tablets have helped to keep me alive in medical-coordination with recently-completed IV chemo treatments.] Time is ticking away faster, especially as I become more progressively ill in silence. — Charles "Chuck" Garrett ⭐

⭐ (4/10/25) JUST LIKE THAT >>> I was in the hospital for a series of repeated "nearing-the-end-of-chemo" cancer/oncology bloodwork, scans and screenings. I will repeat again for the next five weeks before I go to dialysis. FYI, the next weeks will be the absolute last go at outpatient oral "maintenance" chemo for me. I have fought hard, and I will keep at it until I cannot do anymore to live.

⭐ (3/20/25) A BIT OF GOOD NEWS ... My oncologist recently said that I am officially in the "highly-transformative home-stretch" of my cancer-chemo battle. This update is very encouraging, even as — "post-IV chemo" — I still continue with much-needed, life-saving, outpatient oral "maintenance" chemo; and as I also continue to be closely monitored/screened for my End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and Thrice-weekly Dialysis care/treatments (as I await a kidney transplant). [The never-ending primary and secondary health insurance claims/challenges/denials/coverage appeals, and stress continue.] I have a few more weeks ahead to pray and wish my way past all chemo treatments, and cancer. ⭐

Even after a hopeful/pending cancer-clearance, my current "on-going" thrice-weekly dialysis treatments will continue until I get a compatible, healthy, life-saving, living-donor kidney transplant. ⭐⭐

I Am Still Here.

During the past twenty-four years, I have endured renal disease, kidney failure, dialysis, cancer, chemo, congestive heart failure ("CHF"), arrhythmia, pneumonia, vertigo, anemia, stress conditions, and other challenges and complications.

I continue to fight to further live.

I NEED HELP.

After the 9-11 demise, I was rushed to the ER as my heart and health were not functioning well. After years of medical care, evaluations, screenings, and fighting hard to survive, my kidneys also progressively weakened and I then began dialysis in August 2009. I have ESRD (End-Stage Renal Disease) and now also Cancer. I am still on thrice-weekly dialysis, awaiting a dire, life-saving, living-donor kidney transplant for the hope of an extended life. From personal experience, ESRD (End-Stage Renal Disease) and dialysis are more prevalent than most people might know.

⭐ Beyond any interest regarding a potential kidney transplant living-donor match, if you can, please also help me offset some of my medical costs/expenses for on-going thrice-weekly dialysis-related care/treatments, post-chemo maintenance therapy follow-ups, follow-up exploratory scan procedures, post management, and a bi-monthly alternative procedure that are not fully-covered by my health insurance. ⭐

Fingers-Crossed that I will soon ring-the-bell, so to speak, with the nearing-conclusion of all chemo treatments and my three-year cancer battle. For now, thrice-weekly dialysis will also continue until I get a compatible, healthy kidney transplant.

[Doctors have confirmed that after completion of post-chemo and pre-transplant evaluation/screening/testing — and depending upon an available donor kidney — I could be cleared/prioritized for a transplant (as I am B+ blood type).]

PHYSICAL-FISCAL FACTS ... As some of you might know, getting sick is costly, even with health insurance. Having thrice-weekly dialysis and cancer treatments are costly, even with health insurance. Getting a kidney transplant can be very, very costly, even with major health insurance. Unfortunately, what I am enduring and experiencing can happen to anybody and everybody.

CONTINUE TO CARE ... Much thanks for my Faith, Family, Friends, Focus, Nephrology and Oncology Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and Staff at The Rogosin Institute, The Weill Cornell Medicine and New York-Presbyterian Kidney & Pancreas Transplantation, and MSK Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Big Thanks for "Broadway" "Brooklyn" "Basketball" "Baseball" "Boxing" "Books" "Beatles" "Ballads" "Birds" "Beyoncé" "Big Bands" "Bach" "Biggie" "Ballet" "Beats" ...

⭐ EXPERIENCE & ENJOY ... BROADWAY, Jazz and Music, Music, Music are exactly what my doctors have also ordered and recommended to help me heal, recover, recharge, rebuild, restore, rebound = Great Entertainment + Great Energy = Life Savers. ⭐

⭐ FYI, I created the Broadway Brunchtime Series in 2014. Yes, I was already enduring thrice-weekly dialysis treatments at that time. ⭐

⭐⭐ STAY TUNED ... My Broadway Brunchtime Series is hopefully-expecting to return in May 2025 to NYC's Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen to mark our post-Tenth Anniversary Year with special guest Broadway performers/producers, musicians, entertainers, pro athletes and other volunteering notables on-board monthly to help serve brunch, pack/distribute meals/snack bags, and also to energize, empower and entertain needing women, men and families in New York City. Broadway Brunchtime Series is dedicated in living-honor of my auntie, Mary Lorrie Davis aka Lorrie Davis (Original Broadway Cast of "HAIR" in 1968-1972). ⭐⭐

Thanks for the calls, concern, love, email, texts, prayers, blessings, outreach, support, inspiration, motivation and well-wishes. Indeed, every bit makes a difference. Take care. Stay well.

Regards,
Chuck Garrett
