After the unimaginable heartbreak of losing her daughter Nichole, a few days later our mom received devastating news: her cancer has returned but in an even rarer form then before. She has now been diagnosed with Stage 4b Thymic Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that has already spread to multiple areas of her body.
The impact on her daily life has been overwhelming. She struggles to breathe. The tumor presses against her breastbone and shoulder blades, causing constant pain. Another mass is pushing on her vocal cord, making it difficult for her to even speak. She is exhausted all the time and can no longer work.
Mom has always been the one to care for others. She was working in private home health care, putting her patient's needs before her own. After being an accomplished mother to 3 daughters, helping anyone who needed it, always lended an ear or shoulder to cry on–N
owshe needs help and she needs to rest.
Until the SSA approves her disability claim, she urgently needs help with:
•Medical bills/copays
•Utility payments
•Gas for the constant medical appointments
•Medical supplies such as gloves, shower chair, portable toilet, exercise bands (she is pretty much sedentary at this point), pulse ox monitor, blood pressure cuff, wheelchair/walker, disposal chucks, Depends, etc.
•Basic Household supplies
•Moving supplies
•Possible movers to help
•Renting a dumpster
The list truly does go on but this is where we are at right now.
We've been working with palliative care who are keeping her pretty comfortable. Eventually hospice will be part of this journey. It is a reality none of us were ready for, especially so soon after losing Nichole.
We are asking for any help you can give to ease her burden. Every dollar makes a difference in ensuring she can focus on her care and comfort rather than bills and stress. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this with others who may be able to help. Prayers would also be appreciated.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, prayers, and support.
With gratitude,
Ashley
