Dear friends,

I am so very thankful for all of those friends and family that have reached out during this tragic time. Susie and I lost our mama in a car accident when I was just 17 and she was 14. Since then, my sister and I have always been so close and I honestly cannot imagine my life without her. She was just 35 when she first got sick. She was so well loved, a bright light. She was a big a big part of her AA community, she chaired daily meetings and sponsored so many people in their struggles. She always gave back and wanted to help those in need. The hardest part of all of this is that she leaves behind 2 beautiful boys. Her older son is on the autism spectrum and receives a small amount of SSI/ disability. The younger son has been helping to take care of her since he was just 15 years old. My biggest concern now is for them- helping them get on their feet and through this painful, and difficult time. To avoid being homeless, the boys will need help with some basic living expenses (including therapy for the trauma they’ve suffered) for the next year while they grieve the loss of their mother. They also owe a couple months back pay rent on the apartment the 3 of them, their 3 dogs, and 1 cat live. As is, our small family has had to pull together just to cover the funeral expenses for my sister. I know that times are tough for many, myself included.

I do not ask lightly and I am incredibly grateful for anything you can contribute.
