Please help my parents recover from a scam

Hi, my name is Sam.

I have two wonderful, loving, elderly parents, Val and Frank. Who were victims of a crypto currency scam.

They got them for 150 thousand dollars before I knew what was going on.

I’m devastated. They ‘invested’ for my future and their retirement so they could live easier, (my father was hit on his motorcycle a few years ago and still suffers from chronic pain every day, my mom is his caretaker and she’s now considering going back to work which would put my father in a dire situation) They’re going to loose everything if they can’t get this loan settled. Their car also just broke down and now they can’t replace or fix it.

Here’s what happened

my father, was on his phone and came across an add that had a video from the the ‘NDP’ party (which I have no doubt was AI but they didn’t know or show me). In this video they claimed this investment broker was helping a select amount of Canadians with investing in their future. My parents fell for it and filled out the form. They called back and claimed they were picked for help in investing.

at the beginning they asked for 10k and gave them a fake dashboard (which to the untrained eye looked real) and would update weekly as the crypto market fluctuated. Eventually they somehow convinced them to take out a 100k loan to purchase a bitcoin.

they were allowing my parents to take ‘withdrawals’ once a month which made them feel it was legitimate. They knew all the things to say to make them feel safe and secure.

I’ve learned the phrase ‘pig butchering’ and that is exactly what has happened to them. This woman would call my mom and message her and act like they were best friends.

I am bawling my eyes out writting this and I am begging, please anything you can do to help. Anything that can be done to help ease this financial burden would mean more to us than I can ever say.

I know times are hard, but I’m desperate. Please, whatever you can give I will be forever in your debt.

I am also willing to work to make more to help, I can’t even imagine them going back to work my father can barely walk and my mom has to take care of him and make sure he takes his pills. We almost lost him twice while she had to work while caring for him because he can’t take care of himself.

ANYTHING HELPS. Even if you have resources or have advice/someone to talk to. We aren’t coping well.
