Please Help My Niece and Her Family As They Battle ALS

Hi everyone. I’m Catherine Bolam Heyd and I am starting a GoFundMe for my lovely niece. She is the oldest daughter of my brother and his wife, Bob and Katie Bolam. I asked Katie to write a few words to help me explain this page and why I am so passionate to help. These are her words…..

“In April of 2024, the world fell apart for our family as we absorbed the news that ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease, was taking over our daughter's 32-year-old body. This debilitating and life-ending horror takes everything - unfortunately, that includes money. This fundraising goal will help with widening doorways, creating an accessible bathroom, creating a ramped entry, and purchasing a van.”

I have visited them at their home and boy, was I unprepared for all the work, tasks, plans, stress, fatigue, and raw emotions. I was overwhelmed. Bob and Katie are an excellent team and determined to make my niece comfortable, safe, and happy. I am so proud of all of them. But, they need so much help and I’m sure there are many of us that want to help, so I thought I would start this fund to at least lessen their burden financially.
