I am setting up this fundraiser for my nephew Marcel, who lives in Poland. His father, my brother, died a few months ago of lung cancer despite never smoking a day in his life. To say that the money is tight for my sister-in-law and her two children would be an understatement. My nephew was born with hip and ankle dysplasia. The condition leaves him with constant pain, unstable joints and unequal leg lengths. When she "walks" it is on the inside of his ankles, which is extremely painful. He is in desperate need of advanced surgery at a private clinic. The surgery is not covered by our free, national healthcare system. He has had previous operations that were unsuccessful. He is brave and takes his condition with unrelenting optimism.
