In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, I am a heartbroken granddaughter reaching out for help on behalf of my family in Jamaica. My grandparents, who are 85 and 90 years old, have lost nearly everything. The storm tore the roof from their home, shattered the windows, and left the entire house soaked and filled with mud. The little they had worked for all their lives has been washed away.
They now sit in what used to be their home—wet clothes, broken & lost furniture, and memories scattered in the wreckage. Alongside them are their disabled grandson and other grandchildren, who have nowhere else to turn, barely food to eat and water to drink as well as no electricity. It’s devastating to know that at their age, instead of resting peacefully in their home, my grandparents & those who lived in the house are now struggling to find shelter and safety.
We are seeking your support to help them rebuild their lives. The funds will be used to:
• Repair or replace the roof and windows, ensuring the house is safe and secure.
• Clean and restore the interior, removing mud and debris, and repairing damaged furniture and belongings.
• Provide essential supplies, such as clothing, food, and hygiene products, to help them through this difficult time.
I am pleading with anyone who reads this to please help.Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a profound difference in their journey to recovery, your kindness can bring them hope, warmth, and a chance to rebuild what was lost.
thank you on behalf of the family.
