I just spent a long time typing out my circumstances and what led up to them but received a notation that my story wasn't funny enough. It was deleted and I was instructed to try and do it over.
I'm sorry, but homelessness isn't funny. This was a photo taken exactly one month ago. I was without somewhere to live, traveling with a caravan of wagons, shopping carts, a dog stroller and a bike trailer zip-tied and chained together so I could keep my three small dogs with me, along with what's left of my belongings after the people I was working for as a housekeeper as live-in for room & board only, no salary, abruptly lost their home to a bank repossession.
I'd had been like that from August 05th to August 26th, roaming parking lot to parking lot until I could not walk anymore. I sat down to rest and the couple whose house I stopped near offered to rent me a room. I had some cash and was in the process of applying for rental assistance programs through the DEO.
Unfortunately I'm having trouble with the online portal and the ID.me.com website and even worse the couple has an adult daughter that is having to return home during the third trimester of her pregnancy. I have to be out so she can come back in.
While staying with this couple we called every agency our county has. We all made calls and got nowhere. So now I'm back to square one heading out the same way I came in. Either tonight or tomorrow back with my dogs and my caravan on my own trying to get the flawed system to help me in my situation.
Except this time I possibly have Delta variant covid. I will be tested today at 10 am to find out. The results will not be back before they boot me out but even if they were or if it is positive, they have no intention of letting me stay.
Trust me we have worked really hard these past weeks trying to get the ball rolling. The best we managed was in applying for social security disability. It will take up to six weeks for them to send me a letter to my old mailing address with a list of the doctor appointments they want me to keep.
Four years ago a cyst was found in my knee that restricts blood flow up to my heart and back again. Since then it has enlarged and new ones have formed in my spine, ribcage, ankle, and shoulder. I have other health conditions that affect me badly too. So it is really important I keep the appointments social security advises in that letter.
I know a lot of you are thinking I should ditch the dogs, it will be easier to get the help you need. In my opinion, not by enough to justify giving them up.
So I am seeking help through crowd funding to secure a safe place to live even if it is just in a vehicle. I am not physically able to manage this way until a government program gets sorted with me.
Because of a nerve disorder I have lost all of my teeth from excessive vomiting. The bone loss from going so long without proper treatment means ordinary dentures will be unsuitable.
My Christmas wish is to have enough for first, last and a security deposit on a place to call home as soon as possible, preferably before Christmas and to have money for the dental surgeries I need, or be able to purchase a vehicle to protect us during the winter months.
Homelessness isn't funny. I can't define it in anecdotal little paragraphs that make you understand without adding in the horridness that also permeates the whole story.
But that isn't allowed on here. So it is up to you to choose to boost my efforts to straighten out the mess my life currently is in. To assist in helping me get back to a healthy state so I can progress and be safe. To provide me with more options than I currently have.
