Please help me get to Rapid City for my daughter

Friends and Family,

 

Since my daughter was born I have gone through many ups and downs, traveled to another country, and experienced many difficulties and heartaches. I am grateful to those of you who have supported me during these years, particularly Jim and Dorothy, who allowed me to live with them when I first came to Michigan from Florida, and for extended periods of time thereafter -- to Pam and Bud, who have also been there for me, and let me live with them, and most recently to Dave and Elayna, who have shown me much kindness and support.

 

I have chased a lot of different goals, and failed at many things in the interim. But as of my most recent stay in Canada it has become clear to me that now is the right time to take responsibility, and commit myself to being an involved Father. So I am planning to move to Rapid City, South Dakota, within the coming weeks. Although I have been able to work and save a small amount of money since returning to Michigan, it is hardly enough to allow me to transition without tremendous insecurity.

 

My plan is to move directly into a sober house called 'New Beginnings', I have applied and am simply awaiting confirmation. Alternatively, I may also go into a church lead ministry called Cornerstone. Both of these facilities do incur some form of rent, although much less than a traditional apartment, as it is all shared housing. I am continuing to study for an IT certification called 'Comptia A+' which should allow me to enter into a Technical Support or IT job role quickly. But ultimately my plan is to get up there first, and figure things out from there. I hope to be able to find some kind of work within the first 2 months, and begin to establish myself and formulate a stable and loving relationship with my Daughter.

 

Your support will go to the following: my travel cost, including likely having to take a taxi upon initial arrival, my rent, for the first two months, food and bus fare costs, and my phone bill. Ultimately, whatever I am able to raise, will be utilized as a small financial cushion while I undertake this new phase of my life.

 

I am tremendously grateful to my family, for their kind words and encouragements, and particularly to my Mother, who has stepped into the Grandmother role with aplomb, and been able to give Cadence a loving contact and connection to my family, where I have been unable to previously.
