Hello, my name is Scot and my brother has been in the ICU for the past 3 weeks. I'm still having a hard time coming up with all of the money to go and visit him so he isn't alone during a period coming up on the 23rd through the 29th of July, a period when he will be alone until other family can get out there to be with him.

I don't usually ask for any sort of help ever, but I really need to get out there and be with him during this time while no one else can be with him. If you could help me out, it would be gratefully appreciated, and I know he would be thrilled if he knew I was there.

If there are any extra funds after I get out there, I am going to save all of it until he hopefully can get out in the next month or possibly 2 months, depending on how long his recovery is going to be inside of the hospital and out of the hospital, to help him with ANYTHING he might need that he won't be getting any assistance with. Anything will help. Love you all and thank you in advance for anything you help me with.

Hi everyone! Here is an update on Carl’s progress:

Thank you to everyone who has already donated. It means a lot. He has been taken off sedation and has been fully awake for about 2 weeks now. The ventilator has been completely removed as well so Carl is able to breath all on his own now which is wonderful news. His trache was also removed and replaced with a voice box so he can even talk on the phone. It was wonderful to hear his voice the other day.

The next steps for Carl will be to learn how to walk and swallow again. Because of being sedated and immobile for so long it will take a few weeks of rehabilitation for him to learn these things over.

Carl has made tremendous strides in his recovery, but he still has quite a ways to go. Even when he is released from the hospital he will need a caretaker for a while.

We are still trying to raise some money for Carl for this reason. His after care. Carl needs to decide whether he is staying in Florida or coming back home to the west coast. Either decision will require some funds. We are kindly asking for donations for Carl so he will have help when he gets out of the hospital, as he will not be able to work for quite some time.
