Please Help Me and My Daughters Afford a Safe Place to Live

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

My name is Elizabeth. I’m 32 years old, a mother to two beautiful daughters, and currently 7 months pregnant with my third child.

It’s incredibly difficult and humbling for me to ask for help like this, but I’ve reached a point where I can no longer manage on my own. If anyone has the means to lend a helping hand—no matter how small—it would mean the world to me and my family.

I’m being forced to leave the home I’ve been living in. While the house belongs to my ex-partner’s mother (who lives abroad), he has told me I need to leave immediately. I have nowhere else to go. I don’t have a steady income—just a small business that offers services to people with disabilities, bringing in only about $420 a month from one part-time client. I also receive $765 in child support from my previous marriage, but that’s not nearly enough to cover rent in Miami, groceries, credit card debt, or other essential expenses.

This past Sunday, I filed a police report after my ex (the father of this baby) began yelling aggressively in front of my children, demanding I leave right away. I told him I would leave, but I needed time and financial support to do so. He said he’d give me money only if I left immediately. Everything happened so suddenly—I hadn’t even had a chance to look for another place.

When the police arrived, they took him outside, but because he hadn’t physically harmed me—despite trying to forcefully take my phone to stop me from calling for help—they dismissed it as a “couple’s argument.” I was asked to complete a witness report, but no restraining order or warning was issued. Worse, I overheard the officers and my ex laughing about “pregnant women being hormonal,” which made me feel even more helpless and unheard.

I’m still living in the same house as my ex, and my anxiety is at an all-time high. I haven’t been able to sleep. My daughters are currently staying with their biological father, but he works night shifts and won’t be able to continue watching them much longer. I urgently need to find a safe and stable place for them—and for the baby who will be arriving soon.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you may be able to provide. I’m truly grateful from the bottom of my heart. May the kindness you show return to you a thousandfold.

With gratitude,
Elizabeth
