On Monday, 12 October, the lives of the Westlake family were turned upside down in the most unimaginable and heartbreaking way.

Without warning, Matt Westlake suffered a brain haemorrhage requiring emergency surgery and is currently in ICU fighting through each day, one day at a time.

In an instant, a devoted husband, a loving father and a dear friend to so many was facing a battle no family could ever prepare for.

By Matt’s side throughout this devastating ordeal is his beautiful wife, Michelle, who has remained close to her husband as they face the unknown together, alongside their two wonderful children, Aiden, who is almost 21, and their gorgeous daughter Jade, 17.

Right now, their world revolves around Matt, hoping, praying and holding onto every moment as they navigate the most distressing and uncertain chapter of their lives.

A DEVOTED FAMILY MAN, A HARDWORKING TRADESMAN & A FRIEND TO SO MANY

Matt has spent most of his adult life working in residential construction, dedicating himself to his trade and providing for his family.

Matt is so much more than his career. He is a loving and devoted husband, a dedicated dad to Aiden and Jade, a loyal mate and a genuinely wonderful person who has given so much of himself to the people around him.

He has also been actively involved in his local community and sporting groups, building friendships and connections with so many people along the way.

Now, this beautiful family who have spent their lives working hard, loving deeply and being there for others are the ones who need us to stand beside them.

THE REALITY OF LIFE WHEN EVERYTHING CHANGES IN AN INSTANT

Unfortunately, the world doesn’t stop when life throws you one of its cruelest and most unfair hurdles.

While Michelle, Aiden and Jade focus on being by Matt’s side and facing each new day as it comes, the everyday responsibilities and financial pressures of life don’t simply disappear.

The emotional toll of this situation is already unimaginable. Added to that is the overwhelming financial uncertainty that comes with such a sudden and life-changing medical emergency.

At this stage, no one knows what the future holds for Matt or his family. There are so many unknowns, and the road ahead may be long and challenging.

The last thing this family should have to worry about right now is how they will manage financially while they focus on Matt and each other.
