Hi. My name is Patricia and I'm creating this fundraiser for a very sick little girl named Luna and her wonderful family, Perla (Mama), Jorge (Papa) and Anthony (Big Brother). Luna was diagnosed with Leukemia at the end of October 2021, and has been going through devastating chemo therapy. This caused her to lose all her hair which is very difficult for a pretty little girl. Her mother found a wig to make her feel more normal and so she is able to smile for the camera. But her life is certainly not all - or even mostly - smiles. There is pain, emotional as well as physical, as Luna tries to understand what is happening to her.

 

Perla worked for me as a caregiver for 7 years, and over time she became a much loved and trusted friend. She cared for 3 other seniors in low-income apartment complexes, and was adored by all. With Perla unable to work, the financial care of the family is now all on Pappa Jorge's shoulders. He is a hard worker, and sometimes works 7 days a week, but with no salary coming in from Perla, even living their simple life has become very difficult adding to the stress the whole family is under.

Immediate financial help would be greatly appreciated.  However this is an anticipated 5 year process according to her medical doctors at Oakland Children's Hospital. In addition to rent and food and other bills, the family must also maintain their car so Perla can continue to drive Luna to the hospital for her appointments twice a week or more, which is a 120 mile round trip each time.
