Hi, my name is Natalee, and I am the mother of a really great kid, Lex. Lex has autism, and he's had a few setbacks the past two years.

Lex confidence was already low after having been bullied at his previous school. Then he was asked to re-do the same year, because he managed to fail big tests by just freezing up and not filling in the answers.

We're working with a school councilor, and his teacher, and training at home to get his confidence up again.

This clumsy (and mentally younger than his age) now 14 year old is the sweetest, kindest and most loyal friend one can imagine. He loves cats, they are his special interest.

He also devours information on google and youtube. He fact checks, and hates AI. Lex goes to scouting every other weekend.

After school and homework, his social energy is finished. He does not play with other children at all.

Lex online world is completely different. He loves gaming, and hanging out with his "little club of oddballs" as I fondly think of them. It started with just my best friend's son and Lex. They both invited friends from school and clubs. Now they have a thriving social place to practice being social, solving arguments, forgiving one another for "social mishaps" and sharing victories.

Lex pc is at the end of its rope. I cant upgrade windows because of the CPU. I cant upgrade the CPU because of the oooold motherboard. It's probably older than himself. His screen is almost 20 years old. He's gone through 3 mice, and 3 keyboards. His headset is 3 years old and still works well. There are games his pc cant run, so he feels a bit left behind his friends. I was planning on upgrading Lex computer for his birthday, and then life happened.

I would love to be able to buy him a new gaming pc, screen, mouse and keyboard.

I would love to buy him a real desk. Ideally a height adjustable one. Lex legs barely fit into the "leg hole" of his desk.

If there is any money left over I would love to buy him a new bicycle. Again, simply because he's grown so much the last few years that the frame is uncomfortably small.

We managed to get Lex into special education and found a school where he really fits in. The time to travel to and from school every day was draining him completely, waking up at 6 every morning and spending almost 3 hours in a car every day. Somehow we managed to find a house close to his school, put my partners house on the market and moved to make Lex days easier. We now live a 5 minute walk from school, and now Lex had the energy to be playful and social again.

I suffer from autism and adhd myself, and got burnt out. I had medical leave and eventually got terminated and thankfully got disability benefits. My income took a rather big hit. Then it took us over a year to sell the old house. Paying for two mortgages and with my income smaller, our savings slowly drained away.
