Imagine that you are helping your mom who currently is going through breast cancer treatments and your father has congenital heart failure and is on dialysis and needs a pacemaker. You have also had your own recent medical issues and blood transfusions as well as being a 4-time cancer survivor yourself, but you're doing your best to navigate through juggling all this and being a wife and mother of 4. Then amidst the trials of life, one morning while at work you receive this text from your husband and partner of 14 years: "Car is at work keys are in the door not coming home here's 1300 that's all I got tell the kids I went missing may God bless you guys I did what I could it just didn't work out love you always."
Your heart immediately sinks, fearing the worst. It's days until Christmas. There have been no arguments, no strain, nothing to justify what you are reading on your phone. You go to his job and find the car. You contact the police and file a missing person's report and pray. You and your 14-year-old daughter are interrogated as if there has been a crime and you are a suspect. Finally, after leaving the police station and searching, you head home to try and fill in some of these puzzle pieces. While looking up the internet search history, you find flights going to Washington... that's where his sister lives. Then you find "what legal age in PA can you kick out autistic child." Your son is autistic... and you realize he's not out somewhere potentially harming himself. He left. Like a coward, he ended your marriage with a cryptic text.
This is the nightmare my friend Lauren has been going through over the past few days. Her husband literally sent her that text and left her with $1300. She has no idea how she is going to survive. She just got a message from the dealership that her 2019 vehicle with 123k miles that she bought in has a blown transmission and that it will be over $8,000 to repair. She's embarrassed and feels defeated, but I wanted to help her by setting this up. In addition to all the medical stress, she was left crying in the aisle at Walmart trying to shop for Christmas for the kids. Any help financially, no matter how small, or advice or tips at all would be phenomenal as this is totally overwhelming and emotionally and financially draining.
Thank you in advance for anything you can do.
