Help Kizzi-Rae Get the Specialist Wig She Needs

Hi, my name is Ceri, and I'm fundraising for my beautiful 13-year-old daughter, Kizzi-Rae.

Kizzi-Rae has never grown hair since the day she was born. Despite years of hospital appointments and investigations, doctors have still not been able to give her a diagnosis. Her condition is extremely rare.

For many years, Salford Royal Hospital in Manchester supported Kizzi-Rae by providing two wig vouchers each year. Sadly, because we live in Wales, she is no longer entitled to that support.

The NHS in Wales only provides a £100 voucher towards the cost of a specialist wig, yet the wig Kizzi-Rae needs costs around £1,250. As she wears her wig every day and is still growing, it needs replacing regularly, making the cost impossible for us to keep up with.

I am taking this issue to the Welsh Government because I believe children like Kizzi-Rae deserve better support. No child should be left without the confidence that something as essential as a specialist wig can provide simply because of where they live. However, these discussions will take time, and Kizzi-Rae needs her new wig now so she can start school in September feeling confident and comfortable.

For Kizzi-Rae, a wig is so much more than hair. It gives her the confidence to walk into school, spend time with friends, and simply be a normal 13-year-old. It allows her to feel like herself and not be defined by her condition.

As a parent, all I want is to see my daughter happy and confident. Watching her face challenges that are completely beyond her control is heartbreaking.
