Hi, My name is Scott. I am fundraising for my mother, Kathy, the reason we are starting a fundraiser is to get some help for expenses related to her Big Surgery. Some of you may already know or may not know that Kathy has been sick for some years now and her health has recently been declining. The primary cause of her declining health is her diagnosis of Lupus in which resulted in the developement of bronchiectasis. Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung disease characterised by widening of the bronchial airway system and weakening of the mucociliary transport mechanism leading to repeated respiratory infection causing mucus collection in the bronchial tree. As a result, this has caused Kathy to coughing and having difficulty breathing. The excessive coughing caused her to have a laceration on her lung which is releasing CO2 into her blood stream and is suseptible to infections. She has a hard time moving around and would requently have to stop and take breaks. She has to use her oxgyen/BYPAP machine regularly. Currently her lung is only working at 20% its capacity and with that being said, she has been placed on the donor list to receive a double lung transplant (Big Surgery). Although this is a extreme procedure, Kathy has maintained a courageous and positive attitude. The money received from your donations would be used for Food, Tranportion, Medication, other expenses related to the surgery and living accomodations as she will be needing to stay close to the hospital (UCSF) for a couple of months post-surgery. We all pray that everything goes well and trust the Lung transplant team at UCSF would complete a sucessful transplant to give Kathy a FULL BREATH OF FRESH AIR ! Thank you for your support in advance.
