Hi, my name is Luis and I came across this story on Local 10 news.
https://www.local10.com/news/local/2023/04/18/we-feel-like-nobody-cares-floods-force-residents-of-fort-lauderdale-neighborhood-to-start-over/
Jenny Sims is a woman who was hospitalized with sepsis due to the dirty water from the flooding that submerged her home in Ft. Lauderdale. She endured the rain sitting on her bed while her entire house was slowly flooded with almost 2 feet of water. Luckily her bed is high up. Then she got a sepsis infection as she struggled through her house trying to save whatever essential valuables she could, in the end, it wasn't much. She spent days in the hospital before she was released, only to have lost many of her possessions. But worst of all, she lost hope in people. Hopefully, this GoFundMe can help her get back on her feet.
The world can be a mean, hard place. Please help me reach the goal of raising $10,000 for Jenny. I don't know Jenny but her story touched me, and I want her to see that there are people who still care.
It is unknown if mold will ruin the house she lives in, or if the house is a health hazard. It is a very hard and sad thing to see someone in need, despair and lament that "people don't care". Let's help make Jenny's life a little better. This money will help her pay some hospital bills and recover some necessary items, like maybe an oven, a refrigerator or a washer & dryer.
These rains in Broward were brutal and affected everyone living in South Florida. Now that the rains have thankfully dispersed, the people are left to deal with the aftermath. Let's work together to help.
I don't know Jenny Sims, I am a total stranger but her words affected me and I want to help her out if I can. I will give 100% of this GoFundMe to Jenny so she can disburse these funds as she sees fit. I have never done something like this, and I have never even created a GoFundMe so wish me luck.
Thank you.
