Please help this navy Vietnam vet. A husband,dad,grandpa and one of the funniest guys I know.

My name is Abby and I'm asking for help for my step dad Gary and my mom.

They could really use help financially for medical bills, an upcoming military funeral and everyday expenses, such as gas for appointments, meals on the go and getting out of the house to spend time together and make memories. We appreciate anything your able to help with.

Gary was diagnosed with stage 4 (metastasis)urioliol bladder cancer in 2024. Before that, In 2016 he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and In 2020 he had his kidney removed. He struggled with the meds given during surgery and had to be resuscitated. Gary went thru some chemo but struggled very hard with that also. A few months ago he entered the hospice program. They are an amazing addition to his care. Gary is slowing down more and more everyday. But he has not stopped being his silly self when he has spurts of energy.

My mom Terri does what she can to help but after a head and neck injury from a fall in december 2020, she is very limited with what she can do. She finally recieved neck surgery in March 2025, it is not healing like it should and is leaving her with a lot of restrictions. She has been in a neck brace for 6 months and will be going in for another check up soon and a ct scan to see if she will need another surgery. She is left in a lot of pain in neck and head with limited alternatives she can do to relieve any pain. She does everything she can to help with Gary and vise versa.

Gary is a Navy. Vietnam vet. He was Stationed at naval Air station, Oceana Virginia Beach, Virginia.

He was an AK3 aviation store keeper. 1972- 75. Squadron was a VC2 squadron. Primary mission was to tow targets for the fleet so the ships could shoot at the targets out at sea. Planes in fleet were A4 Charlies and A4 Leemas.

One prop plane called the S2 stoof, (slower airplane) used for training new people that came into the squadron.

On the end of the targets were flares so the jets could come in and shoot them, heat seeking missiles. His squadron was strickly shore base.
