Please Help Young Eli Who Has Stage 3 Cancer

A few months ago Eli was a normal, healthy, and happy 3 year old boy. His single mum Nichole is studying, working hard and trying to make ends meet to provide for him and give him a good life.
About 8 weeks ago, Eli started to get a bit sick, and started to lose weight. His mum Nichole knew something was wrong, and took him to multiple doctors appointments, to different doctors, only to be told he had a virus, he was constipated, and she was being a bit paranoid.

One night Eli got quite sick and hadn't eaten properly in days. Nichole had had enough, and took him to Perth Children's Hospital. After a 2 minute consultation with a doctor, she was told Eli is fine, he just has a virus and he was given anti-biotics and sent home. Nichole still knew in her gut that something was very wrong, but what could she do? She had been told by lots of doctors that Eli was ok. She had no choice but to place her trust in the medical professionals.

After about 2 weeks Eli started to perk up. He regained his appetite and started to be the active, bouncy and happy boy he always was. Nichole thought he was starting to finally be on the mend! It was reassuring.

3 nights ago, Eli went to the toilet and there was A LOT of blood. Straight away we took him to ED at PCH. Nichole knew something was very wrong and suspected a problem with his kidneys.

After staying overnight in hospital, having blood tests, urine tests, ultrasounds and scans, doctors confirmed that Eli has a 13.5cm x 9cm tumour wrapped around his left kidney. Eli has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 3 cancer, as well as a blood clotting condition.

His surgery has been scheduled for next week, to remove the kidney and the tumour with it. What doctors can't tell us yet, is whether the cancer cells have spread to his spleen, pancreas, lymph nodes and diaphragm. They will have to check these organs when they operate. Chemotherapy has been planned to commence next Tuesday as well.

Eli has been moved to the Oncology ward at PCH and is now quarantined from having visitors as he just cannot afford to get sick before his surgery and chemo.

On top of all of this, Eli is a B+ blood type. This blood type isn't the rarest type, however it isn't the most common either, and the blood has to be ordered in specially for his surgery. What the concern is, is whether he will need blood transfusions and organ donations, and if we can find a donor match, should it be required.

Nichole has been one of my bestest friends for over 15 years. For the last 7 or 8 years, she has been my over the road neighbour. Her son and my son George are best friends. They play together almost every day. George and Eli attend the same daycare centre. Nichole and Eli are as good as my family, and we are as good as theirs.

Please help me raise the funds that will assist Nichole with her living and medical expenses. She is unable to continue her studies and work commitments at this time, as she is Eli's full time carer. His father has been contacted but has not said whether he will come to visit and help Eli or not.

Please, please help us. Any amount you can afford to give will be greatly appreciated.

Nicola.
