UPDATE: As you can see, the initial goal of applying for a new visa (plus all the add ons listed below) has been reached, thanks to the amazing generosity of friends and strangers ❤️ unfortunately, Deniz's application was denied and she has been ordered to leave the country for a month, where after that point she can then reapply. This fundraiser is to remain open and to keep receiving any donations, so both Deniz and Hazel can live comfortably apart for a month and to then reapply. We will not give up. If you would like to help further, please donate, share, and write to your local MP. Thanks and love to all.
Hello! My partner, now wife, moved to the UK in December 2021. This was due to being victims of homophobic abuse and hate crime, after our relationship became public in Northern Cyprus, where we are from. I chose the UK both because I am a British citizen and I trusted in human rights where we could start our lives from scratch and to love freely without fear.
As soon as we came to the UK my wife applied for a visa and we have waited a decision since 2022 up until this month, where we found out it was refused. In the time waiting for the decision, she has secured a full time job and we even got married in Brighton, where we now call "home". We found a community and friends who are now our only family.
We have found a legal representative to fight our case by appealing and applying for another visa. Our case is very critical and yet complicated, which will take a lot of effort. North Cyprus has no tolerance for homosexuality and same sex marriage is illegal. We lost our jobs and families just because we fell in love. We have both experienced so many traumatic incidents related to this, even threatened with our lives.
Therefore it is of the utmost importance that Deniz remains in the UK as it would be a literal death sentence if she was to be deported.
I can not lose my wife.
Thank you for any and all that you are able to donate. The breakdown of costs are below. The legal fees are needed by 17th February so time is of the essence and we are riddled with panic. Love to all who can help us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
