Hi My name is Megan, and I am starting this fundraiser to help our dear family friend Ceara Riso and her family.

Saturday April 20th was like any typical Saturday for her and her family. Her husband, Chris was home with their 2 year-old son getting ready for the day, while Ceara and their daughter were at the dance studio. Ceara had just finished teaching a class when she started to not feel right. Chris received a call that she was being rushed to the hospital unsure of what had happened. Ceara is an active, healthy 32 year old and she had just had a stroke. A stroke at just 32 years old. Thankfully the dance studio is in close proximity to a hospital. Ceara was intubated and underwent surgery to remove a clot that was just behind her right eye. The entire clot could not be removed at the time due to complications and she currently has a brain bleed. She has had multiple tests and additional procedures since. She has a long recovery ahead of her, and Chris has been by her side while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for their young children (2&7), in addition to their teenage sons and himself. This family has been through a lot, as Chris survived a heart attack a little over 2 years ago.

An unfortunate reality is that the world doesn't stop when an emergency situation like this happens; time needs to be taken away from work to care for what is most important, while groceries need to be bought, and bills need to be paid. This all starts to add up. With both of them off of work for the foreseeable future to focus on her recovery, any donation you can give can help with the normal day to day expenses and looming medical bills on the horizon!

Chris and Ceara volunteer so much of their time with youth hockey, baseball and dance. They are the first to step up and help when someone is in need.

Now it is our turn to help them when they need it most!

***Update 4/30/24- Ceara is having a very hard time with her memory and day to day life. There will be more testing done, along with multiple therapies. Testing is showing that there have been multiple mini strokes, in addition to the "big" one. It is not sure how long her recovery will take and what that looks like. ***Update 5/14/24 - Ceara has good days and bad days. She has quite a few more tests coming up this week. MRI to check the status of her brain bleed and additional scans to see how much impact the stroke(s) have has had on her. She is showing fleeting moments of improvement but then takes 2 steps back. We are praying that she fully recovers from this!
