Please Help Bridgette's Battle for Life
Donation protected
Most people who know me also know my baby sister Bridgette and how very close we are. With a heavy heart, I share Bridgette's story. Last Thursday, Bridgette drove herself to the ER with stomach and back pain. The doctors ran multiple tests; urine sample, blood work, ultrasound of the liver and gallbladder, cat scan of the abdomen and pelvis, and an EKG. Lab results showed her bilirubin level at 34, the normal range is 1-2. Imaging showed her gallbladder was thicker and more prominent than normal, with severe jaundice and liver damage. The doctor said that they were going to transfer her to St. Louis and treat both with aggressive antibiotics. She transferred to SLU Saturday morning and was doing well but in severe pain. Sunday her gallbladder and liver shut down and had to be moved to ICU. Bridgette then became unresponsive. Monday her kidneys shut down and she was put on dialysis. Today is Tuesday and Bridgette is still unresponsive and has swelling in the brain. Time is ticking and she has been put at the top of the donor list for a complete liver transplant.
Bridgette is a single mom and has no insurance. Her son Drake has been very strong these last few days making adult decisions on his mother's behalf instead of enjoying the last week of his senior year. Drake graduates on Sunday and his mom will not be there. Bridgette had big plans on how they were going to celebrate but now my beautiful baby sister is in critical condition and we are praying that her body will survive the wait for a donor. In the meantime, the medical expenses are racking up and will continue to mount after we get a donor with surgical costs, hospital recovery, aftercare, and medications for the rest of her life.
We ask that you Pray and if you can donate to her Battle for Life, anything will help. Thank you and God Bless you for your kindness and generosity.
