Please help Baby Hugo and his Family

Hi my name is Katelin, Meet Hugo, the most beautiful, cheeky, happy, lively and funny 2 year old.

Hugo had started with absent episodes from December/January for which he was under a pediatrician decided to monitor but wasn't concern for him at the time.

For around the last 3 weeks Hugo hasn't been himself, he'd become increasingly emotional, struggled to keep his head lifted up, became unsteady on his feet, stiff neck, generally seemed unsettled, his appetite was up and down with random episodes of him throwing up and generally just not the little boy we were used to seeing.

Hugo was taken to seek medical advice during the 3 week period, however at each appointment seemingly plausible explanations for his presentation were given.

Hugo has the most dedicated and incredible parents who identified that he was not himself and on the 4th of June there was a further GP appointment which resulted in Hugo being taken to Lincoln Hospital where he underwent an urgent MRI.

The results of the MRI showed a large tumor on the back of Hugo's head. We have been told it has been growing since before the episodes started at the end of last year.

The scan also showed 5x the amount of cerebrospinal fluid at the top of the head going down to the tumor.

This adored and treasured little boy was immediately transferred to Queens medical Centre with his Mummy and Daddy right by his side.

Currently we have no details of formal diagnosis but what we do know is Hugo will require lengthy surgery which will be 12 hours long.

Due to blood vessels being embedded in the tumor he may loose his ability to swallow, move his facial features, co-ordination and struggle with speech. The damage may be able to be reversed with lengthy rehabilitation or be permanent. Additionally, he may need chemotherapy and radiotherapy to remove the last of the tumor if it can't be removed through surgery or if the tumor comes back as cancerous. Will only know if the tumor is cancerous a week after.

There will be further testing to establish if its a complicated tumor which will take 4-6 weeks for the results.

Hugo will need follow up treatments following the procedure and will always have to go back to Nottingham if there are ever any problems.
There are many unknowns at the moment.

Hugo and his family have a long road ahead of them all, facing heartbreak and challenges like never before.

Hugo and his parents are now 2 hours away from their home and families who are feeling desperate for him to be well and happy.

Queens Medical have been outstanding and the support in the place is reassuring. They had managed to secure funding for a 4 night stay in a nearby Travelodge from a charity which runs out 9th June.

This wider impact of this most awful situation has meant the family's finances will be impacted and in addition there will be an increase in living costs whilst they remain in Nottingham. Food and Accommodation is going to be the area of additional expenses for the next few weeks.

The priority for now is to ensure all basics are covered and reduce stress for Hugo's parents as much as possible, any help is appreciated.
Moving forward any funds raised will go towards whatever Hugo needs in order to recover and for him to be back home playing with his dinosaurs with the people who adore him.
